Nora Carman began depicting the world from a child’s perspective during the joys of reading with her two young children and creating stories together. Working as a tutor for students struggling with schoolwork, and as a substitute teacher, have also informed much of her storytelling. Nora seeks to foster a love of reading in her children’s books through rhyming text and engaging stories.  

As a military family, the Carmans moved 13 times in 20 years, including Germany, Brazil, Washington D.C., the Mojave Desert, and many other states.  They are now happy to be settled and call San Diego home.

Nora holds a BA in Literature with a Minor in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Public Health.  She has worked as an Army Patient Liaison for Americans hospitalized in Germany, as well as a consulate employee in Rio de Janeiro. She has served in a ministry for military spouses and currently serves as a Care Minister with Stephen Ministry. Time with family and friends, s’mores by a campfire, and long hikes are some of her favorite things.

Nora has published two short stories and a poem. Tiger in My Tummy is her debut children’s book (September 2024), which was listed as a top seller on Amazon in its first week.
